Ms. Lynch's 3rd-grade class began by creating a chart discussing what we know, think we know, and predict we will learn about the U.S., Pakistan, and Afghanistan.We then watched a short video called “Pennies for Peace.” The video shows footage of Afghanistan and Pakistan and offers feedback on the program from students and teachers in the United States.
After adding more to our chart, we created a Recipe for a School and read and discussed the book “Listen to the Wind.” The next time we meet we will create collages that depict some of the main events in the book.
In the meantime, we will continue to review the fact sheets we have read about each of the three countries. We are using these to compare and contrast different aspects of their culture, currency, crops, and way of life. Before our next meeting we will also complete a review of what we learned from the book.
